Juanzhan Tenmoku tea cups are bowl shaped, but with a wide brim that allows the tea to stew and cool perfectly. They are glazed at a very high heat using a glaze with a high iron content, which creates a blackened and distinctively beautiful pattern that is unique only to Jianzhan Tenmoku pottery.

The clasps on one of the boxes was slightly awry but I wasn't planning to keep them hidden away so no biggie. The cups are lovely, substantial but not clunky, and the glaze on each is just right. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this TENMOKU CUP called AURORA!I enjoyed a cup of ITO EN matcha green tea this morning and the warmth of this cup as I held it in my hands was so comforting! These cups are functional works of art! I will be buying additional cups as often as I'm able until I have all the tenmoku that catch my eyes! I wish tenmoku would create little saucers to cover these cups and that are big enough to place underneath the cup. I'd also be first online to buy tenmoku bowls for serving family Ramen, sailing or miso soup! The locking boxes that cradle each beautiful cup are amazing boxes!I love the lock!
