This is our second Tenmokus cup. I was given the first one for Christmas, and admired it so much that we decided to buy a second one, in a complementary style, for my spouse. Not only are they lovely, they come beautifully packaged.
This is the most elegant bowl in my collection thus far. When I took it out of the box I thought it was a little dark, but between the yuteki-esque oil spots in the bowl and the gold/clear/mirror rim there is a lot for the eye to enjoy. This bowl has the smoothest glaze of any I own: holding it feels glamorous and special. Definitely a gem.

This is probably the most under-rated cup in the Tenmokus catalog - if you have stumbled across the Yohen cup and looked into the Inaba Tenmoku, you will appreciate this cup for sure! It appears to be a replica of another famous Japanese piece known as the Yuteki Tenmoku, which sold in 2016 for a whopping $11.7 million USD. The oil-spot technique to make this style of cup was prized in China and Japan for the way it seemingly captured clusters of stars moving in the night sky... and so does this. This cup is nowhere near that price, however it is a magnificent replica, it captures all of the blue-brown and jet-black hues utterly perfectly, along with the oil spots and light streaking. The quality of this cup, as with everything offered by Tenmokus, is top-notch and utterly flawless. I purchased 3 cups, and there are zero blemishes or imperfections in any one of them. I immediately fell in love, and I think anybody who buys this cup will have trouble picking their jaw up off the floor once they see this cup in real life. The picture I took is nice, but it really does no justice to the depth of beauty that is found in this cup.
Beautiful cup! I received a very dark version of this cup, which I quickly fell in love with. The cup is black on a blue background with silver flecks, and when the light hits just right I see bits of deep purple in the black. I believe that my cup fits the name of night sky perfectly.
I ordered two tea cups, Night Sky and Emerald, on Sunday and had them ready for use by Wednesday of the same week. Remarkable given the distance they traveled. The cups arrived packaged like a precious artifact of an ancient civilization in perfect shape. They are nothing short of stunning. The craftsmanship and care taken in their production is evident as soon as the box is opened, but more so once the cup is picked up and used. I was looking for a couple of really nice tea cups and these certainly are that. I definitely will be ordered more in the near future!
