Frequently Asked Questions
Is this cup actually handcrafted by a real artisan?
Yes, this Lake Blue Jianzhan tea cup is handcrafted using traditional techniques passed down through generations. Each piece is shaped and glazed by skilled artisans, making it a genuine work of functional art.
What makes the deep lake blue and teal glaze so unique?
The glaze achieves its calm reflective water effect through natural oil-spot and crystal patterns formed from iron-rich clay during high-temperature firing. Because the crystallization process is unpredictable, every single cup has a completely one-of-a-kind surface.
Can I use this cup for drinks other than tea, like coffee or sake?
Absolutely, this versatile cup is designed for tea, matcha, coffee, sake, and even espresso. Its wide opening and heat-retaining properties make it suitable for any hot or cold beverage you enjoy.
Is the cup safe for everyday food and drink use?
Yes, it is fully food-safe and lead-free because it is high-fired at extreme temperatures, which vitrifies the glaze. The durable construction also retains heat well, keeping your drinks warm longer.
How should I clean and care for this Jianzhan cup to keep it looking its best?
Hand wash only with mild soap and a soft sponge, then air dry completely to prevent moisture damage. Over time, seasoning the cup by steeping tea in it will enhance the glaze's depth and luster.
How is this fragile tea cup packaged for shipping?
We pack it with extreme care using multiple layers of bubble wrap and a sturdy box specifically designed for fragile ceramics. This ensures your Lake Blue cup arrives safely, no matter the distance.

Great cup ,Nice Blue👍!!.
The lake blue was one of my original 4 Tenmokus, and it's really a gorgeous shade of blue. I also got the emerald and they are very similar in size, marbling in the glaze and look like they belong together. I love building my own sets! It's a beautiful shiny blue with slight white marbling, like clouds! Feels nice in the hand too!
Another beautiful cup!
I absolutely love the Blue Tea Cup. I have it with the rest of the cups I have collect from you in a beautiful showcase. The rest of the cups I've bought from you have gone out to family and friends. I imagine I will keep on collecting until I have them all.
This is a beautiful piece of Japanese pottery. I use it for my blueberries in the morning and respect the craftsmanship.
My new blue teacup is beautiful! To be honest, I sip my before bedtime vodka from my cup. This cup is a lovely art piece. Thank you!
