Frequently Asked Questions
Is this Vivid Gold tea cup handcrafted using traditional methods?
Yes, this Jianzhan cup is entirely handcrafted by artisans using centuries-old techniques from the Jian窑 tradition. Each cup is shaped on a potter's wheel and fired at high temperatures in a reduction kiln, ensuring no two pieces are exactly alike.
What makes the Vivid Gold glaze so unique and how are the patterns formed?
The glaze is made from iron-rich local clay that reacts during high-temperature firing to create natural oil-spot and crystal formations. The vivid multicolor with rich golden highlights results from precise kiln atmosphere control, giving every cup a one-of-a-kind royal aesthetic.
Can I use this cup for beverages other than tea, like coffee or sake?
Absolutely, this versatile cup is perfect for tea, matcha, coffee, sake, or even espresso. Its wide mouth and heat-retaining properties enhance the aroma and flavor of any hot or cold beverage you choose.
Is the Vivid Gold cup food-safe and durable for daily use?
Yes, it is high-fired at over 1300°C, making it non-porous, lead-free, and completely food-safe. The dense ceramic body retains heat exceptionally well and is sturdy enough for regular use, though it should be handled with care as with any fine ceramic.
How should I care for and clean this Jianzhan tea cup to maintain its beauty?
Hand wash only with mild detergent and a soft sponge, and always air dry completely to prevent moisture absorption. Over time, seasoning the cup with tea enhances its natural patina and brings out deeper golden reflections in the glaze.
Is this Vivid Gold cup a suitable gift, and how is it shipped to ensure safety?
Yes, it makes an excellent gift for tea lovers, collectors, or zen enthusiasts who appreciate artisan craftsmanship. To ensure safe delivery, we package each cup in protective foam and a sturdy box with fragile labels clearly marked.

I have 4 and they are all lovely... thank you
This is a work of art! I display it canted to the side so the filagree flower is easy to see. It's very admired. Of course you can always use it as it was meant, and holding the cup filled with hot tea is comforting to the hand and the heart.
It’s stunning - it truly sparkles like gold.
Absolutely gorgeous! I was a little worried that the marketing images were showing a little more highly produced example, but the bowl is every bit as beautiful in person.
