My daughter is a potter. She is quite skilled and I am well aware of good vs mediocre pottery. I have other jianzhan tenmoku pottery. Although some of it is pretty, it can't compare to this teapot in quality. Not only it thick and well made, it pours well which is hard to find. The colors are CHAMELEON COLORSHIFTING COLORS for those of you who know how rare that us in pottery. As we continue to use it, the inside turns redder and the outside gets more intense little by little. It will dull bright floral notes and fruitiness in teas, but on other teas it makes them taste rich and fabulous. You will need to experiment to find what works for you. We bought more cups to go with this. I can't rave enough about this. It is small but a treat. We even have a matching strainer to catch leaf pieces that slip though the holes.
