My daughter is a potter. She is quite skilled and I am well aware of good vs mediocre pottery. I have other jianzhan tenmoku pottery. Although some of it is pretty, it can't compare to this teapot in quality.
Not only it thick and well made, it pours well which is hard to find. The colors are CHAMELEON COLORSHIFTING COLORS for those of you who know how rare that us in pottery.
As we continue to use it, the inside turns redder and the outside gets more intense little by little. It will dull bright floral notes and fruitiness in teas, but on other teas it makes them taste rich and fabulous. You will need to experiment to find what works for you.
We bought more cups to go with this. I can't rave enough about this. It is small but a treat. We even have a matching strainer to catch leaf pieces that slip though the holes.

Ordered this as a gift for my sister. I had previously sent her the matching cup, plus one other cup, and she loved them both As soon as this Fairy teapot was back in stock, I immediately ordered it for her. She raves on and on about how beautiful the pieces are! She's amazed by how smooth they all are, despite fooling the eye to believe otherwise, as in the cup that appears to have a rising peacock at the bottom. She is an avid tea-drinker and uses this set everyday. She says a bonus is how each piece emits a rainbow of colors when the sun hits them!!

Like the colours a lot. Not much of a tea drinker but i think the tea pot is a bit too small. I had expected it to be twice as big but couldn't find a size reference in the advertisement. Maybe you did declare how small it is but i didnt see that. Anyway it is quaint and beautiful even though its volume capacity is very limited

I love the tea pot. Actually it holds two cups of tea and I have a small patio in the back yard under a tree that I can go to sit at and have my afternoon tea. I took a photo with my phone but do not know how to include it in the message. I have a collection of old teacups that I will use with it. I am going to send a cup to my niece. I love this pot for making single cups of specific tea for whoever needs it.
We have our family pot which is getting a work out with the ginger, lemon, honey and cinnamon tea, but i had a headache and didn't want to make a huge pot of chrysanthemum tea just for one.
The design is gorgeous, the colours are next level. And that box with its gorgeous latch... Wow!!! I'm in Australia and it's came much faster than expected.
