Frequently Asked Questions
Is this Jianzhan coffee cup actually handcrafted?
Yes, each cup is handcrafted using traditional Jianzhan techniques passed down through generations. Artisans shape the clay by hand and apply multiple layers of iron-rich glaze, making every piece unique.
What makes the warm brown and wood-grain glaze so special?
The glaze features natural oil-spot and crystal patterns that emerge during high-temperature firing in a reduction kiln. Because the iron-rich clay reacts differently each time, no two cups have identical wood-grain textures.
Can I use this cup for both hot and cold drinks?
Absolutely, it is designed for espresso, cappuccino, latte, hot chocolate, and even cold brew. The high-fired ceramic provides excellent thermal shock resistance, so it handles temperature changes safely.
Is the cup food-safe and free of harmful materials?
Yes, it is lead-free and made from natural clay and glaze that are completely food-safe. The high-temperature firing also makes the surface non-porous and durable for daily use.
How should I clean and care for this Jianzhan cup?
Hand wash with mild soap and a soft sponge, then air dry completely before storing. Avoid dishwashers and abrasive scrubbers to preserve the delicate oil-spot glaze patterns.
Does this cup come with special packaging for gifting?
Yes, it is carefully packaged with protective padding to prevent damage during shipping. The unique glaze and handcrafted nature make it a perfect gift for coffee lovers, sake enthusiasts, or home bar collectors.
Why choose this Jianzhan Tenmoku coffee cup

A lovely cup. I'm very pleased Feels good in my hand. Perfect for a morning tea.
I absolutely love these cups and they came so fast! I ordered them from my location in Illinois USA and they were here within 4 days (during the holidays season!).
This is my 2nd order of this wonderful set. Stunning glaze. Great weight. I absolutely love drinking coffee out of this. Thank you again!
First off, this was shipped out immediately. Got here so quickly. Comes in an awesome box. The cup and saucer are so well made. So gorgeous with great weight. Definitely a piece of art I get to enjoy every day. Thank you very much! I'll be ordering more.
I am so happy with my Coffee cups, they are wonderful. I purchased this for myself. The packaging they send them in is fantastic and the coffee cups and saucer are better in real life than on the adds/ website. I’m looking at getting tea cups as well. Thank you.
Amazing coffee cup with saucer, beautiful wood like pattern and accommodates a good size cup of coffee. Fantastic looking with coffee poured into it. Nice and weighty too, not delicate and very sturdy.
It arrived incredibly quickly. It is a gorgeous piece, more luminous than the images on the web! I will definitely return again and again.
Absolutely gorgeous! I was really excited about this colour because it made me think of a Van Gogh painting and it did not disappoint. Brilliant craftsmanship and I will definitely be buying more in the future. The incredibly fast shipping was a huge plus!
Have been looking at Tenmokus' coffee cups for quite a while and decided to try one out. I was not disappointed. The glazing is incredible. The way the colors change depending on the light, the texture of the glazing is perfect, and it is ideal for a perfect flat white. 10/10
I bought this for my husband for Father’s Day as he loves to make cappuccino. I couldn’t wait, so when I opened the beautifully packed boxed, I just gave it to him. He absolutely love the fact that is so unique. Thank you.
I bought the coffee/teacups as a gift for a dear friend. He was ecstatic when he got the gift. He said it was one of the most thoughtful and original gifts he has ever gotten. He's also a big coffee lover so this was exactly what he needed. The team at Tenmokus was great, they even added a personalized note that I requested into the delivery package. Great product, excellent quality, awesome team.
I ordered two "wood" design coffee cups with saucers. Somehow, even though the shipment came from overseas, I received my cups in 4 days which I didn't even know was possible. They were packed in very nice boxes and well protected also. The cups and saucers themselves look and feel great and definitely happy with this purchase. The shipping, packaging and product all exceeded my expectations, I would highly recommend.
I love my Tenmokus coffee mug! It is gorgeous! I’m using it everyday to drink my morning coffee. The size is just right. It keeps the coffee warm and taste with fuller body.
I love having my coffee in this beautiful coffee cup in the morning. A great piece to my collection.
I LOVE this cup! It’s sturdy yet gorgeous. It’s unique yet functional. It was a very thoughtful and one of a kind gift for my anniversary.
Very beautiful craftsmanship, we love both of our mugs!
Beautiful for an individual mug or as a full set to mix and match.
Looks good & arrived fairly quickly. Hopefully, my mother will like her birthday present in two weeks' time. XD
Bought this together with 3 other coffee cups. The saucer for this cup was chipped on arrival. When I contacted the shop, they couriered over a new saucer within a week. Great after sale service. Will definitely order more items from them.
Great service & delivery, the items were beautifully packaged. The cup holds the correct amount I need for a long black, latte coffee. Holds the heat and is really pleasant hold & drink your favourite choice of drink from. Very happy with its appearance and beauty. Will be purchasing more.
My wife and I wake up every morning to start our days with a cappuccino in these beautiful cups. Like drinking from a piece of art.
Love the cup, beautiful. A little on the heavy side but nice size.
This piece is exquisite! I bought this as a gift for my mom, however, I am going to have to buy one for myself, also! The cup is very high quality and beautifully made.
Perfect for a double shot Caffè Latte
250 ml volume. Good for double shot Caffè Latte ❤️
Such a beautiful coffee cup, lovely size. Will definitely buy another one.
Bought 4 as Christmas presents and look forward to bringing some joy. Gifted my wife a teacup and a coffee cup/saucer earlier this year, and each one is a work of art and an everyday pleasure.
I had originally planned to gift this to someone outside the family, but when I saw just how beautiful this cup and saucer actually were, and how wonderfully it was packaged, I decided to keep it within my family, and will now make it a gift for my wife. It's really quite lovely.
My husband is thrilled with his cup!
Lovely cups. Very beautiful and elegant.

OMG, they are so gorgeous. The quality of the craftsmanship, design, and glaze are so good! I would like to know how the glaze is done. Thank you for delivering with care.
This cup is absolutely beautiful and is a joy to hold and use.
A wonderful cup , perfectly weighted for the hand. And with a lush glow. Dots of gold, optically positioned against dark charcoal attract you !
